PART II - PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS

CHAPTER 1 - LIMITLESS
Police sirens wail, and the heavy traffic on the A9 highway prevents the six hundred horses locked in the stable from expressing themselves freely. The gendarmerie lieutenant behind me is jubilant, his smile in the rearview mirror chills me to the bone, his vicious look reminds me of a KKK member contemplating the cross. I hate cops, their way of looking down to forget that deep down, they are just poor human beings enslaved with an average high school diploma and a questionable IQ. It's his first time too. New car, new assignment, he's like a pampered rooster behind the wheel of his brand-new Mégane. He can't keep up, I'm the eagle of the road, the RS6 screams, I frantically flash my high beams while the road gradually clears. The bastard clings on as if his life depends on it, but it's not enough. In the distance, a truck is about to overtake. The small gap between the guardrail and the 16-ton monster won't stay open long. I accelerate... For a brief moment, I see her in front of me, with her long scythe, and her scrawny skeleton hidden under that black cloak. I won't die today. I pass! While my hood brushes the huge Scania to my right, I take one last look in the rearview mirror: the cop is still there, but his look has changed. There was no room for two madmen between the truck and the guardrail. Safe travels.

CHAPTER 2 - DON'S DINNER
The immense crystal-adorned chandelier, the refined tapestries on the wall, and the creaky Louis XVI-inspired chairs. The setting is overrated and the clientele reflects it: old wrinkled bourgeois ladies with oversized earrings and overly lacquered hair. As for our table, it stands out a bit. Some have their feet on the table, others are rolling joints. Bottle of champagne costing five bills in the bucket, a small 2006 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, we're on fire. A real SCH music video. It's my first time in a fine dining restaurant. I feel like a mafioso, with my big gestures and loud mouth. The guy in front of me has seen worse, trafficking, prison, and probably worse, but I just showed him that behind my innocent skater looks, I could easily bring him half a ton of carefully sifted pollen from the Rif mountains. So he overlooks my drunken antics. When I lift the heavy bronze cloche covering my second dish, a 9mm appears. It looks like an old relic from the depths of Sarajevo. It's my gift. Yesterday a simple failure with questionable connections, today a young rookie in organized crime. In a round trip to Morocco, I had changed status. Now, I need to lay low.
